Celebration of the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria in Munich, with the support of Aurubis Bulgaria

On the 11th of March 2025, the General Consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in Munich organized a celebration of the National Day of Bulgaria. The event took place in the heart of the city, in the Sudetendeutsch House and was supported by Aurubis Bulgaria as a sign of the company's commitment to the partnership and the development of Bulgarian-German relations.

As a sign of gratitude for the support, the General Consul of the Republic of Bulgaria in Munich, Mr. Stefan Yonkov, presented a special award to Dimo Kirilov, Production Director at the company.

The programme was opened with welcoming remarks by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Elena Shekerletova, and the Minister of State for European and International Affairs of the Free State of Bavaria, Erik Bayswenger, as well as by Mr. Yonkov. As a symbol of the trust and long-standing partnership between Bulgaria and Bavaria, they unveiled a statue of a Bulgarian-Bavarian lion painted by the Bulgarian artist Clio Kardam.  The figure depicts various landmarks and emblematic buildings from Bulgaria and Bavaria.  The Danube is the symbolic link between our countries, Germany and 8 other European countries. The lion has already been placed in front of the building of the General Consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in Munich and welcomes visitors.

The event was attended by over 400 guests, including the General and Honorary Consuls of European countries, the USA, Turkey, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Qatar, Thailand, business representatives from Germany and Bulgaria.

The program continued with a festive concert, opened by the folklore ensemble "Lazarka" from Munich.

The ensemble has been performing the magic of Bulgarian folk songs and dances for over 30 years. The beloved Bulgarian pianists Hasan and Ibrahim Ignatovi, together with the jazz singer Alexandrina Simeon, performed exciting musical performances for the audience and guests.
