How did you start working at Aurubis Beerse, Celine?
After completing my studies in international trade, I worked in logistics at the Ministry of Defense. When my partner Jeffrey—who works in the Foundry department at Aurubis Beerse—and I bought a house nearby, the distance to my job became too far. Since Jeffrey always spoke enthusiastically about his work and the company intrigued me, I decided to apply. In May 2022, I started at Aurubis Beerse as a Reception & Shipping Clerk. -
What was your first impression of Aurubis Beerse?
Many people think we are just a “standard factory,” but it's so much more than that. We are a specialized recycling and processing site, meaning there's no monotonous assembly line work involved. You notice that dynamic and variety right from the first time you step in.

What does a typical workday look like for you as a Reception & Shipping Clerk?
The first half of my day is spent at the desk, assisting drivers with loading and unloading materials, ensuring documents are in order, and processing customs forms. During the second half, I process transportation documents in our system and ensure all data is entered correctly to ensure the right materials go to the right destinations. The variety in tasks keeps my days interesting. -
What skills are essential for your role?
Language skills are key, as I often interact with drivers from various countries. Dutch, English, French, and German are essential. Attention to detail is also critical to ensure all documents and materials are accurate. Additionally, being socially adept is important since you interact with both drivers and colleagues regularly. -
How do you collaborate with your team?
While the job is independent, you're never truly alone. We are a tight-knit team and work closely with other departments like Security and Materials Handling. Everyone has a role in the process, from creating driver badges to weighing materials and finalizing documents.

Do you have any fun facts about your team?
We've recently started using DuoLingo to improve our Spanish skills. It’s a fun app that makes learning languages enjoyable. It started as something small, but now it’s become a team activity. Plus, we’re big fans of pastries. Bring us a box of pastries, and we’ll be happy for the rest of the day (laughs)! -
Do you have any specific goals or ambitions?
I aim to keep developing myself and learning as much as possible. The variety in my job keeps me motivated to grow further. At Aurubis, you genuinely get the opportunity to do what you enjoy, and that makes me passionate about my work.
